Gyokuro or "dew pearl" is a shaded green tea from the Omura garden in Ashaina. It is harvested by hand in spring and shaded (80 to 90%) for three weeks before harvesting under straw mats. It provides a velvety, intensely vegetal cup (spinach, grass). The smooth, herbaceous flavour of Japanese teas is at its best here. Cultivar: Yabukita. Infusion time: 2 minutes. Water: 65°. 1 level teaspoon per cup. Tasting: 45 sec, then 15, 15... Packaged in 50g bags.
